What to wear for a family Easter get together!

Just because you will be hanging with the 'rents doesn't mean you have to look like them.
Here in New Zealand, although we are technically in Autumn, we have 10 days ahead with no rain forecast and much of our country is in drought. It is safe to say Easter weekend will not be too chilly.
Here is an outfit idea for warm and cool tones.

Dress is an absolute bargain at $39.00 from the warehouse, Ipanema sandels  are currently on sale at Hannahs for $20.00, Nude wedges are available at Number One Shoes for $40.00!

If you are warm, use the sandel pictured as a guide for the colour of your dress. You are after a more coral than peach look and will do well to team it with gold toned jewellery.

If you are a cool toned lass, you will be after some silver jewellery and can take the dress in any shade from pastel pink to peach.

I love this combo and think it is the perfect amount of appropriate and sassy. In other words, you won't have to worry about shocking your granny and will glow in photos.

Hair would best suit this outfit in a casual side pony with volume at the crown and a cute fringe, side swept or blunt.

Beginner Basics: Knowing your skin tone

Do you know if you are warm or cool?

Knowing which skin tone you are is very important.
This one factor will influence which colours look best on you and which colours do you no favours, making you look washed out and pasty.

If you are a brunette with medium to dark skin and your hair has an auburn undertone when you are in the sun or you  have honey, caramel to a dark shade of blonde hair and tan in the sun without burning..
You are warm. Like these lovely ladies and myself.

You look best when wearing the colours associated with Autumn - this is our season girls!
So dig out of your closet anything that is orangey - red, chestnut brown, caramel, cream, gold, teal, forest green, deep purple or cobalt.
Toss away awaything that is pastel coloured. Avoid pastels like the plague. They wash you out and make your skin look blotchy. Also grey is not ideal close to our faces, try keeping on the bottoms if you just can't give it up.

If you are a brunette with fair skin and light coloured eyes or have a pale shade of blonde hair such as platinum or ash with skin that burns easily in the sun, you might identify with these leading ladies. Welcome to the cool group.

You lucky ladies look amazing in pastel shades and bright hues. Think fuchsia, true reds, lavender, silver and all shades of blue.
Avoid colours with red under tones such as orangey reds,  mustard, camel and olive as they make you look faded.

If you have red hair, determine your group by your complexion and eye colour foremost and then the shade of your hair. If your hair is dark red and you have brown eyes and medium skin you would suit warm colours. If you have a pale complexion and light coloured eyes and freckles, you will suit cool tones.

I hope this helps you find the best colours to showcase your beautiful self.

Welcome Southern Hemisphere Fashionistas!

I have started this here blog because for the last two weeks I have been scouring the inter webs and magazines for fashion and beauty advice and became frustrated that everything is scrambled all over the show.
America and Europe are great and I love all the fashionistas from the other side of the world but when we are in Autumn, they are in spring, it is hard to find up to date fashion relevent to our current season.
I also found it hard to sort which web page to trust when it seems everyone has a hubpage or ehow and a differing opinion.
Well my friends even if none of you out there read this, it is going to be my digital record of everything I learn  along the way.
You see I have given myself a makeover from being a trackie wearing, throw anything on , only wear make up for special occasions mumma to a woman who takes care of herself every morning and faces the day with new found confidence, because we as women are beautiful and deserve to feel that way! Hurr hurr.

So we can all feel beautiful and know that we not only look and feel great, but flawless.

I would love it if you subscribed
